We’ve definitely noticed that people tend to trash talk white backgrounds for corporate headshots. However what they do not know is the flexibility white can offer when edited and lit tastefully. We don’t blow out the background and make it super bright like a cheeky stock photo.

Instead, we bounce a soft light in the corner to add subtle dimension that you can’t even see, but can surely feel. To top things off we add a tint to our portraits, which in this case swayed warmer rather than cooler.

A great tip we have for your corporate headshots is to go environmental ! Think about the spaces you interact with on a daily basis, the office courtyard, that neat textured wall in the lobby. In this portrait session, we had our subject arrange the shoot at his friend’s office that happened to have a cool lounge area.

Please note that due to set up and lighting time, we currently offer on location services for our Deluxe Package only, which includes 7 final edited images, a 1.5 hour session, and unlimited outfit changes.

We often get people visiting the studio who have never had a professional photoshoot before. I would go so far to say it’s well over half of the clients that are brand new to the experience.

The most common misconception people often have is thinking they need to be perfect in every shot. We see it way too often that people become over critical when it comes to their portrait.

Though you would never be able to tell, this corporate portrait was taken location at an office along King Street. A quick Uber ride over and in 15 mins we were at the space, setting up our double light arrangement, the same lighting we use here in the studio.

One of the keys to a great headshot is by simplifying the information in the frame. For example, if our subject in this portrait chose to wear a patterned dress, the balance of this image would be uneven and would have our eyes darting all over the place.
