Modelling and Acting Portfolio Headshots

Sirusha wanted images to get a portfolio started for herself and dip a toe into the world of posing for the lights and camera! She booked a 40 min session and brought 2 outfits that had very different vibes showcasing casual and elegant styles.

Here’s one of our favourites from the session! Though it was her first time in a professional photoshoot setting, she warmed up pretty quick and ended up surprising us with her gentle and organic hand posing (that’s one of the hardest things to nail—believe us).

Though we often shoot business and professional portraits, we also dabble in fashion when we get the opportunity, which means more room to play with colours, shapes, and textures. In this instance, we shot this lovely lady against our vivid lavender, which our brightest pastel that looks stunning against tan skin. Don't have a tan? — that's not a problem! With a couple clicks we can create a rich and even golden hue. Alternatively, we can also make your skin tone light and brighter. Julian is a young energetic artist with a strong vision for what he wants. He booked a Minimal Package and came equipped with references of lighting style and mood. We always encourage those with a specific idea in mind to take the reigns of the photoshoot. As we describe it—we are client based photographers who work with you to achieve your ideal image. From start to finish, how you use your shooting time is up to you. We even encourage you to choose your own photos (but are of course welcome to those that need help or advice).

For this portrait session, our subject had warm tones in her skin and hair, so we therefore suggested using a beige background as opposed to a cooler grey or blue background. 

Fashion Designer Lookbook

Throwback to a funky summer themed lookbook we shot in the wintertime in the studio. 
Amna is a Pakistani designer who was preparing for her spring/summer 2018 collection launch. 
With about 20 different dresses to capture, we aimed to create as much variation as possible so that she could use the photos overtime on her social media. She was only in town for a few weeks, so we were fortunate enough to have had the chance to work with such professional and talented young lady. I could say the same for her, as she had originally contacted us in a panic having had another photographer cancel their shoot last minute!

Professional Fashion Portrait

Here's a recent fashion portrait we shot on a squeaky clean white backdrop. Lighting the subject form the back,, we added depth and intrigue to the image with lighting set up behind her to emphasize her cheekbones. Wearing just a tube top, we were able to create a fresh and clean silhouette reminiscent of beauty campaigns. This is a great lighting set up for commercial gigs for beauty or jewellery lines.

Professional Fashion Portrait

Throwback to our experimental phase whereby we tried every colour under the sun, all in effort to learn which were suitable depending on the intention set. Purple was an interesting avenue for us to explore as we had the initial suspicion that it wasn't useful as a background option. As it turns out, our suspicions about purple were correct to some degree. Cooler toned shades will always appear colder at first impression than warmer shades! So simply put, if we want to shoot against purple, we can, and it will look great provided that we consider the tint of the colour is favouring warmth.

Throwback to using this stunning fashion portrait we took in the fall. This shimmery blouse really lit up on camera, and created some interesting effects. We enhanced the textural element by converting the image to black and white.
