The other day we shot a male fashion portrait, which is essentially a portrait with advanced lighting, and fashion inspired poses. Besides knowing what clothes read best on camera, we also have a couple technical tricks up our sleeve. Essentially the basics of portrait photography is that women should have less information on their skin, and men should have enhanced definition. When we were lighting and editing this photo, we kept in mind that principle and pumped up the contrast which emphasized the shadows.
