Here’s a great action shot of Jennifer making things look easy in her beautifully geometric asana. We cycled through a couple different poses before warming up into this one, for the purpose of a branding update for her website. We wind you all the luck in the new year to develop your practice!

Natasha was such a lovely person who we shot the other day for her professional headshot. We encouraged her to have a bit of a pop of colour while sandwiching the busy layer with a conservative jacket colour. She brought a couple options and we decided on set which were the best for her skin tone and complementary to the background.

All the best with everything Natasha!

Looking for a more engaging and dynamic portrait? Sometimes we like to change up the game a bit and shoot from a slightly elevated perspective, easily achieved by you having a seat on one of our comfortable chairs. Essentially shooting from up higher creates more depth so that the shoulders are not all tack sharp. Overall, it makes more a clean yet very much still organic shot.

Our classic white background—paired this time with a trio of blue, navy suit. Want to look sharp and put together? Our advice: trade your plain white shirt and black jacket for a more tonal-friendly outfit. We love how there are 3 different shades of blue going on here, making for the perfect amount of interest to the eye. Don’t hesitate to ask our opinion on what colours look best on you!

When styling for a photograph, we always offer one weird piece of advice: humans like to see other humans skin. Imagine for example, this joyful headshot of Montana but instead of a scoop neck she is wearing a turtle neck. Not a mock necks—a full coverage turtleneck. What can I say other than It’s a sort of instinctual reaction for us to feel safe that we’re amongst our kind *insert alien emoji here*

We love how much high energy a classic white background refreshes the photo. Beryl wore this cool 2 piece dress-suit which look slick even in 3/4 shots. We love how her hair colour pops against the neutral grey as well! Great styling Beryl!

We got a new toy for our studio—well most people would just call it a table, but for us it’s so much more than that! Opening a whole new world of possibility, we can now add more variation to Standard and Complete Packages! Now people can relax and lean on something while posing instead of point blank standing there. Cropped tightly, it puts the shoulders a more dynamic position, perfect for energetic business portraits or engaging acting headshots.

Stefana wanted a LinkedIn headshot that didn’t look the same as everyone else taken on a studio background. She attached many references depicting a bright and somewhat overexposed scenario, whereby her face was more dimly lit. We incorporated the usage of window light and filled in any unwanted shadows with a soft studio light. The result turned out great, and we were able to take advantage of the old characteristics of our studio well!
