Acting Headshot

Mikhail wanted to get some updated acting headshots to submit to his agent. With acting headshots, the shooting process is a little different. There ends up being more exploration of angles and lighting to show the versatility of their look.

Are they auditioning to be the good character or the bad character? With the Standard package, we had enough time to change up the lighting to be more dramatic and add stronger shadows to his face. The photo above depicts the softer lighting style, which he ended up preferring to the contrasty variation. Though it's not always the case that people like the softer lighting! Feel free to ask our advice on which style suits the look you are going for.

Hannah is a model originally from Calgary who has seen quite some success in the modelling scene these days. Recently featured in The Weeknd's music video, as well as in top the Canadian fashion magazine Elle. A natural beauty, she was very humble and easy to work with.
All the best with your modelling career Hannah!

Jesse is an experienced model who was sent to us by his agency to get more high end studio shots to appeal towards more expensive suit and tie companies. It was a pleasure working with someone with such a positive attitude, who did not let his success in modelling get to his head (he was even a Calvin Klein model!) We dressed him in classic, well fitted cuts with unique fabrics and patterns to add interest to otherwise simple silhouettes. Good luck with your career and hope you get lots of work this coming year Jesse!

We had the pleasure of shooting Abby's first photoshoot. At the ripe young age of 15, she has taken an interest in modelling and gotten signed with a major agency. She will still learn lots along the way, however her listening skills were great and she responded quickly and accurately to the instructions that we gave her. Abby got a custom coloured background in a creamy coral pink that matched her baby face and elegant bone structure. We love the dewy makeup our artist did here and how her skin glows with little else on.

Junseo is a Korean student who came to Canada to try his hand at modelling. His agency wanted to expand his portfolio quickly and efficiently since he only planned to be in the country for several months. This session was quite funny since Junseo was the type of person who constantly had a smile on his face, and we had to keep telling him to look angry and serious. He struggled to make his expression that of what he's not used to, but I have to say the photos turned out so well you couldn't even tell he was nervous!

Anna wanted some updated photos of herself in a fashion portrait style. She was really relaxed and laid back during the session and made sure to put on her best smize (smile with her eyes!). We liked the intensity of this shot where some volume was added to her hair with the gentle breeze from our wind machine. We also chose to look for clothing that had unique details to it to avoid using jewellery in order to achieve that trendy minimalist look.

Angel wanted to experience her first photoshoot to see how she liked modelling. The style she requested for her clothing was casual, comfortable, yet sophisticated. We found these really cool baggy white sequinned shorts for her with a contrasting form fitting black bralette. Hoop earrings may be a statement in real life, but in photos they are a slim, and rather subtle accent that helps tie the look together. For this session, hair and make up were kept very natural since it's easier for casting to imagine what would suit her based on a bare face.

Veroljub needed a loosely cropped simple photo to submit to his marketing team. The graphic designer needed a full resolution, colour shot that would later be cropped to a shoulders up headshot, and converted into black and white. If your employer has certain specifications for your photo, please don't hesitate to forward us all the information necessary so that we can make sure to output the file as per the requirements.
