Rafal was looking to have clean studio shots that he was required to submit for an article that he was being featured in. He was sent several reference photos which he showed us, all depicting smiley and friendly photos on a bright white background, similar to a stock photo style. Although he was somewhat critical of his smile saying it was hard for him to act naturally in front of the camera, we pulled out our bag of tricks to make him grin and capture that genuine laughter.

We are enjoying these last few days of good weather and shooting outside while we still can. This is our favourite shot of Nija, a psychologist who recently expanded her practice and wanted some personable and friendly photos she could use for her website and marketing. We shot the entire session outdoors, using the local cafe to do quick outfit changes.

Michael is a local DJ who is working on putting his first EP together. He needed a photo in a square format to be used for his album cover. We happened to have our set painted a moody deep blue which was leftover from a previous session. His music incorporates electronic and jazz together, so we were lucky it happened to be the perfect shade of blue to represent his music style. Looking forward to hearing your tracks once everything is all finished!

Meganne is interested in acting and as well as alternative modelling (she has lots of tattoos believe it or not!) so she wanted a portrait that was styled with a bit of a punky feminine edge. This romper suited her perfectly with a relaxed fit on the top and tighter fitting lower half. A little bit of soft light crept through the side of the building and was able to cast a golden hue on her skin.

Ross needed a couple variations of a simple portrait for work. He expected to be using his portrait online on LinkedIn, as well as on his personal website and marketing materials. He brought in several suit options and with his 40 minutes of shooting time, we were able to try them all out. He ended up picking photos in each different outfit. All the best with your business endeavours Ross!

Soft White Background

Ken suited our soft white background perfectly with his warm toned shirt and matching tie, all that is left for the cherry on top is a glowing smile. His photo radiates positivity and friendliness, however I distinctively remember him laughing at himself at this point (with us egging him on)! Turns out natural smiles are the best and this definitely shows it.

Laura had her portrait taken on our medium grey background, which complements every skin tone and hair colour. Opposed to white, we recommend people shoot on our grey background when aiming to add more depth and personality to the image. This is because of the fact that the shadows in the background give a subtle realness instead of being completely blown out from the light. We shot this photo loosely and cropped it later to her liking so that her features would appear more visually striking.

Gather your confidence and book an outdoor session while the weather is still with us!
Moe wanted an approachable garden green background and we found the perfect spot for that just across the bridge from the studio. The alleyway shades the sun while still emitting a gentle natural glow on the skin (extra golden effects happen when you shoot during or around sunset time!). Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any questions regarding to when and where is ideal for your session.
